International Economics

Readers Question: Hiya, I’m applying for E&M at oxford for 2009 entry and was wondering if you have any tips about the interview process. In my personal statement i also wrote about International economics and so i was wondering whether you could tell me a bit about what policies other countries have adopted and whether or not they were successful.

Economic policies of other countries is quite open ended. What I suggest is focusing on one or two countries and having a good idea of what is happening. The best thing you can do in preparing for an interview is to do some background reading. This will help give you topics to talk about. In particular try to make the link between economic theory and economic reality.

I would suggest having a good background in the US economy. Reading these essays, will give you a good overview of some of the problems:
