Income tax allowances

An income tax allowance is the amount of annual income you can earn before it is subject to tax.

In the UK in 2015/16, the personal income tax allowance was £10,600.

Which means that income below that level is not subject to income tax (though it is subject to National Insurance contributions). Another form of tax.

In the UK the level of N.I allowance is £112 a week.
