When I went for my interview at Oxford University there were many stories about tricky questions from eccentric Oxford dons and the various responses from students.
Whether these are actually true or not who knows!
– An Oxford Don is reading his newspaper as the student enters the interview room. Without looking up the Oxford professor says "Kindly say something of interest to grab my attention.
The student takes out a lighter and sets fire to the newspaper of the suitably chastised Oxford Don

Student’s answer
– This is courage.
I wonder if the examiner was tempted to comment. – "No that is stupidity" – 0 marks
